Oh awesome! Maybe you can help me... how do you keep the cellophane from crinkling up when you hit it with the heat gun?

I use it very carefully. I will take the wire frame and sandwich it between the two pieces of cellophane. Then I'll put some butcher paper on top and iron it first. It just takes tweaking the settings of the iron and the pressure you use to make sure it's shrinking correctly and not too much. With a heat gun, I'll hold it off and gradually bring it in to the cellophane. I generally only use that on the edges I want to seal up or burn back to the wire.
You just need to play with it (safely!!) to see what works for you.
Also, I use an older iron for my wings that I don't use it for my regular clothes anymore. Even a hair dryer will work on tricky spots.

I use drop ceiling wire wrapped in electrical tape in between two pieces of cellophane with spray adhesive and then burn the edges closed with an iron.

I have made a pair of wings out of clear contact paper (adhesive cellophane) and untwisted wire hangers, and they are my first. The contact paper got really creased and bubbly when ii put I on, but it looks cool when the light shines through it. They also are not perfectly even. I'm still perfecting my craft ;)

I have yet to attempt any cellophane wings but I do wonderful airbrushed/handpainted wings over galvanized wire with a nylon base. occasionally some bead work too.

I haven't made wings in a long time. I tried cellophane and ended up with a pile of glue and an iridescent lump of frustration http://i.imgur.com/Jy4dpse.gif . I adore cellophane wings. The wings I did make were the good ole pantyhose and wire or fabric.

I haven't made any wings yet, but I am currently constructing some feathered harpy wings http://i.imgur.com/gHxkm6c.gif I think I am always going to make my own wings. My costuming passion roots from making my own cosplays, so I plan on finding a way to make everything I need http://i.imgur.com/fcfBcpz.gif

I have made several sets of wings for other people, oddly enough I have never made myself a single pair. My only personal set of wings I have are a set of Fancy Fairy wings right now, I would like to change it but I no longer have an airbrush studio set up so I need to come up with a new place to do that since the ban came down on no more airbrushing in my sewing room.

The easiest way I have found is to just post a picture ffrom my phone. Setorin has made the mobile browser interface super easy to deal with.

Hello Leafy! I apologize for the photo sharing process, yes it is a little confusing http://i.imgur.com/lG5PdYK.gif
Our system only allows URLs, not direct. The easiest way to do this is to log into a photo-sharing platform like Photobucket or Imgur and upload your photo there. After that, it should give you a URL link for your photo. Copy and paste that into the little box that appears after you click the IMG button above each post and reply box http://i.imgur.com/fcfBcpz.gif

I hope that helps! If you need any further assistance you can check in with me http://i.imgur.com/gHxkm6c.gif

Also if you have your wings on Instagram just copy the link to embed it and past it into the reply section then bracket it in the DOHMTL and you will be all set. That is how I post most of them.

Frolicking in the Mitis Forest

Ah! Everyone's wings look so beautiful! <3 I personally don't have any yet, but I am thinking of purchasing some, or making my own. I'm thinking making them out of Burlap could end up looking really cute? Maybe some lace and burlap... and pearls... http://i.imgur.com/8b4l5ud.gif
