So I went to make my set of vinyl and iridescent film wings, I used some film from Michaels and vinyl that was the second from thinnest at Joanne's. I don't quite remember the size. I spray glued them together, used an iron to heat them on the wire frame...They just don't seem melted together, and you can't even see the wire frame. I don't know what I did wrong here, if I just need more heat or what, any suggestions?

So the world of pre made wings is a bit new to me, we all know Fancy Fairy but I have been trying to explore other places for wings since she has moved to her new method of selling. I thought, why don't we at Fae Network make a Wing Maker Index similar to Mernetwork's Tailmaker Index? I'm not sure all the logistics of it, such as breaking it down into cellophane type wings and nylon wings but it would be nice to be able to see all that's out there.

Maybe for now we post wing shops we find or our own wing shops? I have seen a few on etsy that are very pretty with some very unique techniques.

So I have been thinking about building up a small fae wardrobe for faires and events and I have been searching around shops and tutorials. So I was wondering, where do you get your pieces? What tutorials do you use?

What is your fae fashion style? Woodsy? Gothic? Mixed? Personally I like pieces and props that play with proportions as well, like a hat that looks like an acorn cap or a skirt made of leaves as well as a gothic or insect kind of look. I have a few thrifted dresses I purchased for fae things and I am happy to sew pieces. I would love to see what you fae like too.

So I'm working on a set of cellophane wings and I'm wanting to make black vein designs on the inside as well as paint patterns inside. I have the wire and cellophane and I've experimented with a few different things. I made designs in permanent marker on the inside but they didn't show up as well depending on the reflection of the cellophane. I plan on purchasing a heat gun to shrink them to the veining so it'll have to hold up to the heat.

So what do you other fae use?

Hello, I'm Nightshade (A_Koi_Mermaid on Mernetwork) from Texas.

I really love fairy stuff, from gothic faye to more wood sprite, and I have longed for a pair of wings for quite a while. I love making costumes and things and I have a few things built already.

I've built a faun costume to wear to Scarborough fair this year, I have a cellophane roll to build my first major set of wings (having trouble with making the veining, but that's another thread!), and I've been working on wire elf ears and other faye accessories I'd love to share with all of you.

I'm excited for this site to get up and going and if people like I'll share some tutorials on the things I make.
