Hi!
I found this site while scouring the web for wing refs and tutorials. For years I've been obsessed with coming up with a more flexible yet sturdy kind of fairy wing-- less because I'm worried about poking others and more because I want to be free to dance around and run into things without my wings getting bent out of shape!-- and I'm finally doing some prototypes that are starting to get at what I envisioned. This seems like a good place to share my progress and come for inspiration and accountability, so here I am, and happy to meet you http://i.imgur.com/3AVzh1O.gif

(The pic in my avatar is one of the first pairs of wings I made)

Welcome to the community Lirelyn. I am excited to see your progress on these new type of wings as that is often a downside to having wings on when at events that you wanna be free to "play around" at.

Nice to meet you Saelyyia and Ashe!
I'm going to try plastic brim reed used for millinery in place of most of the wire. I ordered some and it'll be a while before it gets here; I'm sort of on edge wondering whether it will work or not (because it comes rolled and I expect it will want to curve in unruly ways), but I saw at least one reference to it being used for wings.
In the meantime I've experimented with plastic bristles that I cut off of the broom, and THOSE work pretty well if all else fails. http://i.imgur.com/lG5PdYK.gif

Hi Lirelyn, I am curious, have you made any progress with your wings? I am very curious about this project.
